Can you imagine that music influences the stock market? That sounds weird because we think things like election outcomes, the weather, economy and other similar factors affect the stock market. The truth is, even your thoughts, feelings, and music could influence the stock returns.
There are several research papers proving these theories. In a research published on Harvard Business Review, listening to happy songs makes the stock market outperform. The review by Alex Edmans of London Business School alongside other three coauthors is based on 40 nations that listen music on Spotify. The researchers found that listening to positive music during the time of carrying the research reflected on the stock market of an individual country. Ideally, Edmans and coauthors found listening to good vibe music promoted the stock returns.
Let`s look at some of the ways music affects the stock market.

Music Helps You Focus

Many corporate offices have televisions at every corner. However, if you think about it, you would hardly concentrate on your work and still watch your favorite show or watch music video.
But, if you replaced television with speakers, the outcome will likely be better. Various studies show that music increases the level of dopamine. The increase of this hormone is likely to promote your productivity.
Considering that stock market involves a lot of analysis, calculations, repetitious tasks, reading reports, and data interpretation, you need something to help you focus. Fortunately, various researchers have proven that music can help you focus. Ultimately, you will get better interpretations and make better decisions about buying and selling stocks.

Music Block the Outside Noise

Reading the last five words can make you question a lot of things, but give it a second. It feels like music is noise in itself. But look at it this way.
Imagine you are in a room with big computers whose fans make loud noise. Apart from that, you will hear laughs from time to time and other noises. However, listening to music blocks out all the other noise.
In other words, you can listen to music passively. When you choose the right music and put it in a low volume, it does the trick.

Music Lighten Up Your Moods

You might be a good trader. However, you will always have bad days where you make bad losses. Without music, you can concentrate on your bad moods all day. However, putting on the right music can help you move on.
Ideally, music can help you stop focusing on the loss and concentrate on the mistakes you did and learn your lessons.

Music Can Make You More Cautious

You are bound to make mistakes especially after a long day at work. However, listening to music can make you more cautious. This is because your brain registers that it is doing multiple jobs including listening to the music and trading. Therefore, it will try and focus more on individual activity during the multitasking period.
So, if you find yourself making mistakes, you can turn on the music to turn things around.

Music Can Keep You Interested

Looking at graphs and other data all the time is not interesting. You will get tired and walk away from your desk from time to time. However, when you put music on, you are likely to stay on your desk longer to prevent missing a beat.

Can You Listen To Any Music During Stock Trading?

Probably not. Not every tune can keep you interested, focused, and calm. Experts advise you stick to positive music. Consider your favorite music and new positive tunes to create your playlist.
Particular attention to the choice of music should be taken into account when margin trading. Take Contract for Differences (or CFDs) as an example, it is a good derivative that makes it possible to make high profits for both rising and falling market prices. However, if you are distracted by music, you can skip important pieces of information and misallocate your trading funds. And everyones knows that trading with leverage does not tolerate such mistakes.

If you are listening to music as a group, you need to consider other people`s interests too, otherwise, your choice will be their destruction. You can even go for instrumentals. This works really great because you don’t have to focus on listening or learning new lyrics. Instead, you can focus on your work.
Listening to music is not the sole strategy to make good returns from stocks. Therefore, you cannot rely on listening to good music to get profits. Instead, listening to music should be one of the many things you do as a trader to increase your returns from stock trading.

IEM Cologne (Intel Extreme Masters Season) is one of the most prestigious championships held in Counter-Strike by ESL. IEM Cologne featured 24 teams. There are several ways for teams to qualify for the CSGO tournaments.

The top 6 teams from Europe and the top 2 teams from the US each win a slot. Play-Ins are awarded to three more teams from Europe, two from the United States, and three from South America. The remaining 8 spots went to the winners of the 6 wild card stages, as well as the NC Global Playoff and ESL Meisterschaft champions.

CS:GO is very popular in Europe. What cannot be said about North America and the United States in particular.

CS:GO in the U.S.: Could New York City become the New Cologne?

The North American professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene is having a hard time experiencing border closures, isolation, and a lack of LAN tournaments. Only three teams from late 2017, that is, from the time Cloud9 won the ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018, have survived to this day.

Almost all of the players from those squads are no longer playing on the professional stage. Some have finished their careers, some have changed to eSports. Today, among the top thirty teams in the world, only two are from the United States. There are no such clubs in the top ten. In three years, Counter-Strike has gone from a championship at the Majorsto the stage of extinction. It’s time to find out the reasons for this sad situation.

CS:GO’s popularity in the United States

The first and main reason is the relatively low popularity of the game in North America, and specifically in the United States. The country’s very popular for consoles. Console shooters gather more players in the matches and more viewers on the broadcast. The next reason for this is that CS: GO is only available on PC.the problems with American CS was that it did not have the highest popularity of the game.

Problems with the organization of tournaments

If you look at the IEM tournaments in New York, you can see a pattern. At all the tournaments, most European teams performed. And not just played – more than half of the titles were won by European clubs. It was the norm to see two European teams in the finals. This internationality contributed to the popularity of the tournaments. But when the borders closed, things didn’t go according to plan.

It could be said that North American tournaments were not very profitable. The organizers would be better off holding the competition in another region. CS:GO in North America could have survived this phase without much trouble. But due to the emergence of Valorant on the professional scene, there was a monstrous exodus of CS:GO players. Once a week, another American eSports athlete announces a change in eSports.

Riot Games, the developer and publisher of Valorant, is trying to support and grow the professional scene in North America. The company has already pulled off that stunt with League of Legends, and it looks like it will succeed with Valorant.

Can Valve save the situation?

Not at all.The company has shown many times before that it only intervenes in eSports when absolutely necessary. For the rest of the time, the ecosystem tries to cope on its own. It’s an understandable stance, but in the situation of the U.S. pro scene, it means that CSGO tournament operators and teams shouldn’t expect help.

We can already talk about a rollback to the level of five or seven years ago. CS in the United States is not dead yet. But we need to start acting now. There is a chance that CSGO tournaments in New York, which attract a huge number of fans thanks to famous eSports players, will help save the situation.

Conclusions

Today we can see how organizers are making efforts to organize tournaments and popularize Counter Strike. New York has all the necessary infrastructure to create conditions for guests from all over the world.

But the pandemic, the resulting isolation, the tournament hunger, and the lack of support from Valve — these are the challenges CSGO events face in New York. How many years will it take for New York City to become the new Cologne of the CS:GO world? The question remains open.

CS:GO is one of the most played and watched esports in the world. Its growth has been equally serious. Prize pools, viewership, and pro teams’ quality have shot up year by year.

But the pandemic staggered this progress, at least quality, and prize pool-wise. In the pandemic, many people turned to esports for entertainment. Unfortunately, the quality of CS:GO dropped, as tournaments were played online.

CS:GO scores became unexpected, and lower teams had unfair advantages. New teams emerged as winners, and the community started deeming them as “onliners.” Gambit and Heroic were two of them. Both of them proved that they were here to stay as they gained a 3rd-4th place at the recent LAN Major.

Though CS:GO results became more unpredictable, it wasn’t because low-ranked teams improved a lot to upset the old giants. They did improve but lags and pings that caused peeking advantages played a crucial role too. Of course, the pressure of thousands watching and cheering for or against you at LANs was also missing in online tournaments.

At the end of 2021, we saw a few tier-one tournaments played on LAN. The Major was the only one with a large-scale audience. Cologne was the first LAN after the pandemic, but without any audience.

There are not a lot of planned locations for upcoming tournaments as of now. Despite that, 2022 will be littered with LANs and fans and all the love the community has and deserves.

The best arena for CS:GO in the world!

The Place To Be?

Perhaps one of the most loved destinations for CS:GO matches is New York. From the enthusiastic NA audience to the general beauty of the city, New York is an ideal place for the greatest CS:GO tournaments

In S-Tier Tournaments, the grandest tournament held in New York in recent years, is ESL One: New York.

Having a recurring event in the city already deems New York as one of the staple names in the CS:GO world. Even cities like Kyiv, Malmo, or Moscow don’t have a permanent tournament host. New York belongs to an elite league of cities like Cologne, Sydney, London, and of course, Katowice.

ESL One: New York was introduced in 2016. It has been held four times, in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. It was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.

But in just four years, it has grown exponentially, in viewership and in hours watched.

There has been more growth in Hours Watched for New York tournaments than the growth is in Cologne, Sydney, or London tournaments. New York is ahead of many cities on the list. It is ferociously competing against the city deemed as the Cathedral Of Counter-Strike, Cologne.

Today, Katowice is the only city that genuinely stands above New York. But as mentioned, the growth of NYC is greater than it is of the Polish city. Hence, it’s just a matter of time before New York topples Katowice!

Looking at the newfound passion and obsession of the North American fans, it’s easy to say that New York will soon become the host of a grand Major. The day isn’t far when the darling city of America becomes one of the best places for upcoming CS:GO events and tournaments! And New York has proved it with a lot of other tournaments in various esports disciplines

The Other Side Of The Coin

For travelers who visit a city from thousands of miles away, New York presents itself as the most ideal destination. It offers a plethora of things to do and places to be when the CS:GO matches aren’t being played. Be it exciting waterfronts, the delicious Chinese food in East Village, the exquisite local museums, the greatest concerts, the 640 theaters scattered in the city, the colorful nightlife, or the grand skyline, if New York doesn’t keep you entertained, then no city can!

CS:GO games are wonderful opportunities to explore new places and add cities and countries to your ever-growing list. And in that regard, New York arises as the most complete and enjoyable city to visit… and revisit!

The amazing crowd at the Grand Finals of ESL One New York 2017!

(ESL | Helena Kristiansson)

From esports viewership and passion point of view to the general welcoming side of the city, New York is very quickly growing in the CS:GO community and will soon be the household name.

Embrace yourselves, New Yorkers, for soon, you shall have to bear the weight of leading the greatest esport in history!

The term “zombie” in popular culture refers to the walking dead, animated at someone else’s baleful whim, possessing no will of their own and only following orders. As a rule, zombies run after people in the crowd in the hope of getting a piece of them. And the origin of such a colorful name refers to the West African tribes and their beliefs in powerful voodoo wizards with the ability to raise the dead. However, these former dead men look, frankly speaking, not at all unimportant. They move with a shuffling, unsteady gait, losing parts of their semi-decaying bodies as they go.

The word “zombie” was first mentioned by the American journalist William Seabrook, who lived in Haiti for a while and met the aborigines who practiced voodoo. This happened in the late 20’s of last century and caused the first surge of interest in the living dead on the other side of the Atlantic.

In today’s world, however, the zombie theme was triggered by the movies Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead by George Romero, as well as by Richard Matson’s book I Am Legend. Despite the fairly widespread popularity of zombie themes around the world, the greatest love of “the dead” is enjoyed in the United States. Therefore, it is not surprising that one of the main metropolitan areas of this country, New York, hosts one of the largest zombie festivals.

The concept of “zombie” in popular culture refers to the walking dead, animated at someone else’s evil whim, possessing no will of its own and only following orders. As a rule, zombies are a crowd chasing people in the hope to get a piece of them eaten.

The Zombiecon Zombie Festival takes place in New York City in October, usually a few days or weeks before Halloween. The parade participants are mostly young people who enjoy disfiguring each other by applying sinister makeup. The effect is to radically transform the crowd, looking so repulsive and naturalistic that even a voodoo shaman would probably run away if he saw a veritable army of the risen dead.

Many participants in the parade think that in this way they are expressing a certain social stance, protesting against the imposed model of consumer society, and so on. Of course, anything can happen, but it is not very clear how cut, bleeding wounds, bluish faces, and other colorful details can serve as an expression of any kind of protest. However, the zombie festival attracts a lot of tourists, which of course reflects well on the city’s coffers, so the authorities are very loyal to the event.

In short, the main purpose of the parade is to have fun and have a good time, and then to remember all the following year the frightened bystanders.

World-famous brands and designers, the best models come to New York every second week of February and September every year, followed by fashion lovers, buyers, press and tourists. This is when New York Fashion Week (NYFW) takes place – one of the 4 major events in the world of “haute couture”. The daily shows glide into a lively after-party that attracts couturiers from all over the world. Designers showcase autumn/winter collections in February and spring/summer collections in September.

New York Fashion Week begins a series of fashion events, immediately after London and Milan are held, and the fashion week in Paris completes the series. Many designers in New York are just warming up, leaving strength for the European shows.

A Little History

The first NYFW was held in New York in 1943, when Europe was embroiled in World War II and thought the least about fashion. The U.S. was deprived of its main source of fashion news, that’s when Eleanor Lambert suggested holding a local fashion festival. When European countries came to their senses after the war, designers supported the idea. Later the fashion weeks appeared first in Paris, then in Milan and London – the so-called “Big Four” formed.

For almost 70 years the venue for NYFW was Bryant Park in Manhattan, where gigantic white tents were set up for the occasion. Now the shows are held at Lincoln Center and are attended by about 200,000 visitors each year.
