Acting State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today announced the following events running from Thursday, March 27 to Sunday, March 30 at the New York State Fairgrounds:
Hundreds of dogs and their owners will put their training to the test starting Thursday as the Salt City Cluster Spring Dog Show returns to the Fairgrounds. It’s the 33rd year for the show, which features dogs in all breeds. They will take part in agility, obedience, and rally trials in the Center of Progress Building, with vendors of all kinds of related items filling the Exhibit Center.
The show runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in both buildings. Admission is free on Thursday. Friday through Sunday, admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12 years old. The show is sponsored by the Onondaga Kennel Association, the Finger Lakes Kennel Club, the North Country Kennel Club, and the Central New York Kennel Club.
The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 21 – September 1, 2014. The Fair’s mission, reflected in its 2014 theme, “Summer’s Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.
In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.
The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.
