Advance Sale Tickets & other Discounts Also Available for Visitors at this Year’s Fair
State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine today announced that Fall Out Boy will become the seventh concert booked for the Great New York State Fair’s Grandstand in 2013. The well-known rock band will perform on Friday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m.
“Today, we continue to add value to one of the best reasons for New Yorkers to make a trip to Syracuse at the end of summer,” said Commissioner Aubertine. “The lineup of the Grandstand as well as the assortment of free concerts helps make the Fair one of the top tourist attractions in the state. I encourage everyone to visit the New York State Fair this summer.”
Very few bands can do what Fall Out Boy has done this year. The four-person rock group stopped recording together in 2008, in the midst of an incredible run of success. The band parked singles in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart every year from 2005 – 2008. Then they went on hiatus. The break lasted four long years. In early 2013, they announced that they had reformed and were recording new music. The new album, “Save Rock and Roll,” shot to #1 on the album charts after it was released in April and its first single, “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark Last Night (Light Em Up),” hit the top 15 on the singles charts and dominated radio airplay for many weeks.
Rolling Stone magazine named “Save Rock and Roll” one of its best albums of 2013 at midyear and said of the band’s return, “life is more fun with Fall Out Boy than without them.” Superstar Taylor Swift tweeted to her followers that she had listened to “My Songs Know What You Did….” 43 times that day.
Tickets for Fall Out Boy go on sale Friday, July 26 at 9 a.m. at the State Fair box office and via the Fair’s only official online ticket seller, etix.com. Prices for tickets are $45, $35, and $25. Grandstand concert ticket purchases prior to the opening of the Fair include admission to the Fair. An opening act for Fall Out Boy has not yet been determined.
Previously announced performers for the Fair’s Grandstand concert series include Luke Bryan, Jeff Dunham, Toby Keith, Reba, Carly Rae Jepsen and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Tickets remain on sale for all performances.
The Fair also provides many free music events on its Chevy Court stage, Midway Music Series stage, Regional Artists Variety stage, and in other Fairgrounds venues. The New York State Fair is Upstate New York’s largest free music festival. Dates and times of all performances can be found on the Fair’s website, nysfair.org.
